LA RECETTE DU BONHEUR
To outshine Samantha, her nemesis with whom she must share a birthday celebration at school, ten-year-old Candice decides to bake a cake where each layer embodies a happy memory from her life. La recette du bonheur (french for The Recipe for Happiness) is a children’s graphic novel created during my first year of the Master in Comics program at ESA St-Luc. Intended for both children and nostalgic readers, the story gently explores themes of happiness and human connection. Presented in the form of a graphic novel, it alternates between narration and flashbacks, brought to life with soft, colorful illustrations using alcohol markers and colored pencils. I had three months to imagine the story, create the pages, and produce the book. This project served as a test for a future universe to be developed, since there is still much to review.
