En vert et contre tout (Against All Green) is a graphic novel following the story of Cléo, who suffers from growing eco-anxiety as she faces the reality of our dying world. Her theme for her university literature competition forces her to confront these catastrophes directly. Realizing the negative impact this work has on her mental health and her relationships, Cléo decides to clear her thoughts by writing her thesis in the countryside, at her uncle and aunt’s home. She hopes that this change of scenery will help her better cope with her eco-anxiety. But is this a feeling that can, or even should, disappear? Eco-anxiety is something I experience daily. Through this life-inspired story, I sought to depict a state of mind that is becoming increasingly common in the context of the climate crisis. My main motivation was to share my perspective on this theme. This story is not meant as an ecological solution, but rather as a spotlight on a generation in turmoil. The graphic novel was created as my Bachelor’s graduation project at HEAD Geneva in 2023. Two years later, I reworked parts of it (especially the ending) by incorporating a collaboration with a text written by my friend, author Laura-Marie Berner. I am now preparing a publication proposal to send to potential publishers.
